Have you ever thought, “Maybe I’m feeling a little jaded because I’ve been in this space so long?”

That question pops up from time to time when I see things cycle or come across a piece of content and think, “Really?” (Go ahead, call me Judgy McJudgerson.)

I also think we’re living in extraordinary times (it’s so much easier to get started online today than it used to be).

I’ve been at this for 16+ years, and the specific cycle I’m seeing reminds me of the ‘Internet Marketers’ (i.e., bro marketers) of my early days (2008).

They used to do what was called a “JV List Swap.”

Which was pretty much the same as some of the list swaps, referral programs, and recommendation engines we see today.

Before I go much further, this isn’t to say those things don’t work or can’t be valuable; they are and can be.

It’s simply another traffic source.

It’s what you do with the traffic matters.

And I get that we do things differently at different stages of learning and business.
