Why I’m Moving Back to Costa Rica a Year Later

This is a move “toward,”… not “away from”

My first move to Costa Rica was in June of 2021.

Here’s the tl:dr:

I was born and raised in the Bay Area in Northern California (I am the fifth generation to be born in San Francisco). It wasn’t until I lost my Mom in 2019 that I decided to move out of the Bay Area.

My kids were living on their own, so I decided to move to Boise, ID.

Moving to Boise raised many questions (mainly, “Umm… why?” 🤔).

Boise felt close enough that I could still drive down but far enough that it felt like I was ‘out of state.’

That move happened at the end of March 2020, and then the world shut down.

My year in Boise was quiet, and in so many ways, it was incredibly healing after losing my Mom. The space allowed me to grieve and take care of myself.

Fast forward a year later, and I was faced with the decision to renew the lease or find somewhere else I wanted to live.

I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go so figured I’d renew and keep looking (even though Boise was WAY too cold for me).

Then it hit me.
